The Day After Thanksgiving: Old Salem

Sleeping in, a lazy morning, sun is shining and the skies are blue---it's the day after Thanksgiving. The turkey wants to be digested, a perfect opportunity to talk a walk through Old Salem.

Old Salem still looks the way it was built by the founders of present Winston-Salem. All the buildings are still used.

Thanksgiving at the Divan's

It's the fourth Thursday of November---Thanksgiving Day. This evening, Yuka and me are invited to join Pam and Lou Divan, Lou is a coworker of mine, and their family for a traditional southern turkey dinner.

We enjoyed a wonderful evening (and a great turkey). Thank you for the cordial hospitality!

NBA: Bobcats vs. Mavericks

This night is a goody for all German basketball fans! The atmosphere at the Bobcats Arena in Charlotte is great---like a big circus.

By the way, the Charlotte Bobcats are playing against the Dallas Mavericks.

My fellow countryman Dirk Nowitzki is part of the Dallas Mavericks team.

The American media agrees that he's the best player on the field.

Nowitzki scores 23 points and his fellow Harris adds 21 to lift the Dallas Mavericks to a 98-88 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats.

Watch a video summary of the game. If you're lucky, you'll see Yuka and me somewhere in the audience...

Indian Summer

I guess we are currently experiencing the most wonderful time of the year! Haven't seen such expressive colors so far.

We use the warm sunny weather for a short run through the West-End of Winston-Salem.

There's one of the city's golf courses in the background.

Runnymade Park (West-end as well). Its a wealthy neighborhood with plenty beautiful old houses.

I guess I still owe you guys some pictures of the nice houses...
