Mirage

On Yuka's last day in Canada, we have lunch at one of our famous restaurants at the University Plazas, the Mirage. It's a great spot to enjoy delicious Korean and Japanese food in pleasant atmosphere for reasonable prices.
Since we are professionals by now, we know what to choose!

Niagara Falls

The time has come! Niagara Falls is less than a 2-hour drive from Waterloo. In principle, it is inevitable to get to the "Las Vegas of Canada" sooner or later as an exchange student. I resisted successfully - until today.



I have to admit, the falls themselves are impressive - the amusement park around isn't. Thus, I made some panoramic photos (click!) of the falls only.



The national boundary runs through the river - the other side of Niagara river is already U.S.-American territory.

A New Housemate

While we were enjoying this long weekend, someone else was apparently pretty busy. We have this new guest right next to our front door.
Better not to switch the light on...

The Bruce: Many Aviaries and More Sceneries

The Lake Ontario side of the Bruce Peninsula, albeit only 12-15 km away, offers a totally different sight.

Stay off the dock!



Next to the road, in a "village" that consist of four houses, we discover probably the world's biggest wildlife aviary-town. Check out the most impressive buildings below.

The Bruce: Georgian Bay

A lot of beaches are only accesible through hikes or by sea, so is the one above. For that reason, we own this lonely spot for ourselves. (click on the above image for a panoramic view!)

The way back is always more challenging...



A good scenic drive with the escarpment on the one and Georgian Bay on the other side goes north from the village of Dyer's Bay and ends at the historic Cabot Head Lighthouse.



Accompanied by insects, ...



...we take a short trail that leads us to a lovely hidden bay.



Blue skies, turquoise water and white rocks: this scenery conveys a Mediterranean atmosphere.



In the late afternoon, we have a coffee at the harbour-beach of Lion's Head.
